The old type single cylinder water cooled diesel engine is a swirl chamber diesel engine. Diesel is injected into the swirl chamber and then burns in the cylinder after Pre-combustion. The speed of swirl increases along with the speed of the diesel engine in the swirl chamber, thus diesel and air can mix well at a high speed rotation. The advantage of this type of injection is operation stability, but on the other hand, the disadvantage is the loss of heat dissipation and gas flow is too much, causes high consumption rate and difficulties with cold star-up. Post-combustion phenomenal is even more serious.
At present, single cylinder water cooled diesel engines generally use direct - injection combustion chamber. Diesel fuel is injected directly into the cylinder and burned with high temperature and pressure air. With the characteristics of quick combustion reaction, easy to start, good economy, high fuel consumption rate, small heat loss. Under the same engine displacement, the direct injection type is more powerful than the swirl chamber type.
